These bento lunch boxes have a very elegant and slim design. It emphasizes the simple beauty of the bentwood craft with the light color and natural grain of Japanese cedar. The dark cherry bark sets a nice color accent where the ends of the bentwood sheets are bond together.

The lunch box has two compartments to separate the food. As cedar wood naturally keeps away bacteria and absorbs moisture, food inside the bento box remains fresh and delicious. It is easy to wash with warm water and will last for a long time.

Please wash the box with cold or lukewarm water after use. Remove oil with a mild detergent and use a soft sponge and dry it with a soft cloth. This box is not suitable for the dishwasher.

Japanese Odate Bentwood work is made of Japanese cedar cut into very thin slices. The wood is cooked in boiling water until it becomes flexible so that it can be bended into various shapes. The end pieces of the bentwood are fixed together with dark cherry bark, which not only makes a nice dark accent on the light wood but also creates a durable and natural bond.

Kurikyu Bentwood is known for its high quality Bentwood work typical for the city of Odate in northern Japan. The company is run by Shunji Kurimori who represents the sixth generation of proprietors. He received many awards for his craft and also exhibited in many countries outside of Japan.
