This gorgeous Japanese style food containers are designed in a 3 story high tower, with the boxes fitting into one another, creating a beautiful piece of art. They are perfect to store, present and transport food. or up to a day. It keeps the rice humid and the antiseptic effect of the Japanese cedar protects the rice. The cedar wood keeps the food fresh and protected due to its temperature retaining and antibacterial properties.
Please wash the container with cold or lukewarm water after use. Remove oil with a mild detergent and use a soft sponge and dry it with a soft cloth. This container is not suitable for the dishwasher.
Japanese Odate Bentwood work is made of Japanese cedar cut into very thin slices. The wood is cooked in boiling water until it becomes flexible so that it can be bended into various shapes. The end pieces of the bentwood are fixed together with dark cherry bark, which not only makes a nice dark accent on the light wood but also creates a durable and natural bond.
Kurikyu Bentwood is known for its high quality Bentwood work typical for the city of Odate in northern Japan. The company is run by Shunji Kurimori who represents the sixth generation of proprietors. He received many awards for his craft and also exhibited in many countries outside of Japan.
