Akira Yamaguchi
Born in Gunma Prefecture in 1969. Completed a doctoral course in oil painting, Department of Painting, Faculty of Fine Arts, Tokyo University of the Arts. While using oil paintings, he presents humorous works that weave contemporary figures and landscapes into images of the East and West, ancient and modern, using methods reminiscent of ukiyo-e and Yamato-e. He is active in a wide range of genres such as book binding and portrait painting. His representative works are "Four Heavenly Royal Statues" and "Department Store ??? Japan Bridge Mitsukoshi".
