Japanese hand fans are a traditional accessory that have been used for over a thousand years. They are typically made of a bamboo frame, with a paper or silk covering that is decorated with various designs such as landscapes, flowers, or calligraphy.
There are many different types of fans. "Folding fans" are compact and can easily fit into a purse or pocket. Larger non-folding fans are often used in performances of traditional arts. Some fans have a unique shape or design, such as the "uchiwa" fan, which is popular during summer and is often especially important for the decoration on the round paper space. Uchiwa are a popular tool in Japan to advertise marketing- or policital campaigns, or themed and used to cheer on musical artists or sports clubs.
All types of fans in our line-up are carefully selected and of high quality. They can be admired as a piece of art, by displaying them in a special stand.
