Hinoki Cypress Masu Style Mug for Hot and Cold Drinks

This Mug inspired by the traditional Japanese masu sake cups. The third generation president of Masu specialist Masuya (1950) suggested that "if we can drink sake from Masu cups, I want to be able to drink my favorite beer too!". With this in mind the Mug was created. Over the years its designed has been improved so that it's now resin coated and will contain both hot and cool temperatures; weather you use it for an ice-cold beer or a hot chocolate! 
As the hinoki wood suppresses condensation, unlike with stainless steel cups, it won't stain your table and it is very comfortable to hold. 

The corners have been designed so that there are no shard edges and the softness of the wood will feel nice against your lips. The handle makes it easy to carry, even for the very young and old. And finally, the president personally prides their design for making the foam of beer taste more creamy! 

The Mug can be used for hot and cold drinks, and is even popular for parfaits!   

Hinoki trees are not only beautiful, but also believed to have a cleansing and purifying effect; The wood has a long-lasting, calming fragrance, antibacterial and stress-relieving properties and even suppresses the formation of mould, bacteria and mite. It is therefore a popular material for construction and in sushi kitchens. Masu cups are crafted from the left-overs of these constructions - no wood is cut for their production alone.

Masuya is a company specialized in the manufacturing of masu sake cups. It is located in Ogaki city, which accounts for about 80% of the production of masu cups in Japan. Masuya also developed a range of contemporary products inspired by masu cups made of Hinoki cypress.
