Bringing the charm of Arita porcelain since 1961

KINSHODO's motto is "to live with the Japanese spirit" through extraordinary beauty for daily use. Building upon 400 years of history in Artia porcelain, KINSHODO combines modern shapes with unique metallic colors. Although the colors look metallic they do not include metal, so that the ceramics can be used in the microwave and are beautiful and highly functional.

Arita Ware

Porcelain crafting in Japan dates back over 400 years in Arita, Saga Prefecture, after being introduced from Korea. In 1616, ceramic rocks in the mountains near Arita gave birth to Japan's first locally produced porcelain. Their elegant shapes, Western shapes and Chinese inspired designs quickly became popular both in- and outside of Japan and the name "Arita Ware" (also Imari ware), quickly spread internationally and were shipped from the Dutch outpost in nearby city Nagasaki. In 1977 it was officially recognized as an official traditionally Japanese craft. Arita porcelain gained  popularity after being published abroad and winning the Grand Prize at the Exposition Universelle in Paris in 1878 and 1900.

Arita ware is known for being light, thin, solid and with a feeling that almost resembles glass. It is durable and water absorbent - making for great tableware.

KINSHODO was established in 1961 and continues to develop new Arita styles to surprise the world.

LIN

The LIN Collection was developed by KINSHODO in 2016 on the occasion of the 400th anniversary of the founding of Arita porcelain. It has become their main product brand, alongside some other collections. LIN Was designed to be appreciated and used all around the world.

Crafted one by one.

The LIN collection has a metallic look and feel that does not seem to be porcelain. The unique coloring, which changes color depending on the viewing angle, was created through many trial and error. Desptie the modern design, it was still crafted using the traditional production techniques.

The skills of the Kinshodo craftsmen were cultivated over many years and they make use of materials with strong characteristics.
