Hinoki is one of the trees that has been closely connected to people Japan for a long time. Hinoki cypress is also used in Horyuji Temple, the oldest wooden building in the Japan. It is one of the best woods for durability and preservability, and is therefore popular for home- and tableware.
The wood becomes more beautiful and shiny as it's used over time.
