Maito works with "True colors drawn from nature"

They explain that in this modern era they want to value hand made things that value the traditions of Japan,
the skills of craftsmen, and especially the and nature, which gives us various blessings.

Their concept is to make beautiful items from natural materials, without chemicals, that are friendly to both nature and people's skin. They believe that by choosing a manufacturing method with less waste, we can approach the realization of a sustainable society through sustainability-conscious manufacturing and ethical consumption (ethical = consumption that considers environmental conservation and social contribution).

They are committed to sustainable manufacturing and create items that can "age" with their user.

Their philosophy key words are:

Made in Japan: There are many great craftsmen in Japan. The textile industry, including dyers, spinners, sorting shops, processors, knitters, weavers, and sewing shops, has originally survived by supporting each other through the division of labor. Maito is committed to continue this.

Craftsmanship: MAITO's products are also completed with the support of makers in Japan. In Ichinomiya, they spin yarn, in Kyoto they weave stoles, in Kurashiki they weave canvas, in Kiryu they embroidery, in Saga they knit socks, in Wakayama they knit circles, and in Asakusa they sew bags. Each MAITO product is infused with the skills and thoughts of the wonderful craftsmen of Japan.
Organic:
Most of MAITO's cotton products are made from organic cotton. Organic cotton is cotton grown on agricultural land recognized by certification bodies in accordance with strict standards for the use of pesticides to reduce the impact on the environment.

Natural: Natural products, including plant dyeing, have a different texture and warmth from chemical ones. It is very comfortable and you can feel it directly from your skin, just as you can see and enjoy the changing of the seasons. Plant dyeing pigments do not settle on chemical fibers. This is because the use of plant dyeing inevitably means using natural materials.
For Earth / Natural Dye:
"plant dyeing" / "natural dyeing" ; As the name suggests, the colors are derived from natural sources like plants, trees and sometimes even insects. They do not extract color from artificially chemically synthesized pigments. Wastewater from synthetic dyes is considered to be a cause of environmental pollution. Plant dyeing does not emit harmful dyeing wastewater containing chemical substances, so it can be said that it is a dyeing method with a low environmental impact.

Whole Garments*: Whole garment means "no sewing". Normally, the fabric made for each part is sewn together to make a single piece of clothing, but the whole garment knits each piece of clothing three-dimensionally without sewing it together with a special knitting machine. Therefore, it has excellent elasticity and is finished in a seamless knit that can be worn regardless of the system such as shoulder width. MAITO's knitted products are knitted at our own knitting factory in Senboku-gun, Osaka Prefecture. Designed to follow the human silhouette, whole garment knit without joints or seams is characterized by being difficult to lose its shape and soft around the skin. Whole garment knitwear knits knitted garments with minimal yarn; there is no cut loss and no unnecessary disposal is generated.

Upcycle: It is an attempt to reuse UPCYCLE or RECYCLE materials and things that would otherwise be thrown away, such as Ross Flower and Ross Food.

Re-dye: Many of MITO's products can be re-dyed. The color changes as you use it, and it becomes deeper by re-dyeing it. The color of plant dyeing is not eternal, but it can be used for a long time by dyeing it many times in this way. These changes are one of the real pleasures of plant dyeing.

Vegan* (depending on line-up!): It is a product made only of plant-derived materials such as cotton, linen, Tencel, and rayon. It does not use animal-derived materials or dyes such as wool, silk or cochineal. Natural products, including plant dyeing, have a different texture and warmth from chemical ones. It is very comfortable and you can feel it directly from your skin, just as you can see and enjoy the changing of the seasons. Plant dyeing pigments do not settle on chemical fibers. This is because the use of plant dyeing inevitably means using natural materials.
