The Benrido Atelier is a COLLOTYPE workshop based in Kyoto, Japan and has mastered the art style since 1887. Their beautiful designs make for amazing Japanese gifts, decorations and souvenirs. The printing requires the best materials, with quality ink and handmade Japanese washi paper, and experienced craftsmen are the only ones able to properly design the prints - Each individual step requires experience and eye for detail to create beautiful tones and to properly balance the pigment.

This is a picture scroll drawn by Sakai Hoitsu, the founder of the Edo Rinpa school. As the name suggests, the picture scrolls depicting the flowers and birds of the four seasons are full of colorful colors and creatures, making it fun to watch.This picture scroll was drawn for your celebration when Hoitsu was 58 years old. A total of 60 species of plants and birds appear in the "Four Seasons Bird-and-Flower Painting", but it is characteristic that insects such as bees and mantis are drawn, and the influence of the Shijo school and Kiyo's bird-and-flower paintings You can see.

Sakai Hoitsu
Born in Edo as the second son of the Sakai clan, the lord of the Himeji domain, from Horeki 11 to Bunsei 11 (1761-1828). Enjoy various arts such as painting, haiku, and waka poems. He learned many styles of painting such as Kano painting, sketch painting, ukiyo-e, Tosa school, and Maruyama school, but he was deeply devoted to Ogata Korin and became the ancestor of the Edo Rinpa school. He left behind a delicate, graceful and lyrical work. Representative works are "Important Cultural Property Summer Autumn Grass Folding Screen" and "Four Seasons Bird-and-Flower Drawing".
